Research: Combustion; Fluid Mechanics; Thermodynamics

Professor Sohrab's research interests include the fields of combustion, fluid mechanics, and thermodynamics. He is currently involved in research on scale-invariant forms of conservation equations in reactive fields. His research also concerns statistical thermodynamics, statistical theory of turbulence, theory of shock waves, theory of laminar flames, turbulent combustion modeling involving premixed/diffusion flame extinction, flame-vorticity and flame-flame interactions and flame-front stability.

In the classroom

Professor Sohrab has taught courses on thermodynamics, heat transfer, fluid mechanics, and combustion. His teaching places emphasis on deep intuitive understanding of physical concepts and historical perspectives on the evolution of the subject matter and its connections to other scientific disciplines.
