Research: Turbulent flow; rotating machinery; acoustics; energy conservation

Professor Kistler's main interest is in understanding turbulent flow. He is currently carrying out experimental work on the macrostructure of turbulence near a separation line and also is attempting to untangle force producing turbulent flow patterns near a solid surface. In addition, he is pursuing efforts to optimize fan blade design, both with regard to aerodynamic efficiency and with regard to acoustic noise generation.
