The MEDX Lab has a number of openings for graduate students (mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, and other engineering areas) and researchers (postdoctoral and permanent). We are interested in people with expertise or interests in the following areas.

Each area is given a set of number indicating the approximate percentage of engineering, science and applications.  For example, [50,30,20] means a project is 50% engineering, 30% science, and 20% applications.

1. MEMS: Microelectromechnical systems design, fabrication, characterization, and applications.  [70:15:15]

2. Parallel scanning probe array and dip pen nanolithography (DPN): MEMS technology is used for developing parallel scanning probe array. [60:35:5]

3. MEMS based flow sensors and pressure sensors for aerospace applications. [50:10:40]

4. Fluid mechanics and autonomous underwater vehicles: integrated artificial lateral line for underwater autonomous vehicles. [20:30:50]

5. Tactile sensors: multimodal tactile sensors for virtual reality and medical applications. [30:30:40]

6. Soft MEMS: polymer based MEMS technology development and integration with electronics [50:10:40]

7. Biosensors: Using MEMS cantilevers and other modalities for detection of protein and DNA biomarkers [20:40:40].

8. Microfluidics and automated assay processing in a handhelp platform. Mechatronics design. [60:10:30]
