Mechanics of Materials and Structures (CEE, ME; 1.0 FTE) The Department of Mechanical Engineering and the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering invite applications for a tenure track faculty position in the broad area of solid mechanics and mechanics of materials. Of particular interest are candidates whose research interests complement active areas of solid mechanics research in the McCormick School of Engineering and Applied Science and the Center for Quality Engineering and Failure Prevention. These include multi-scale mechanics and physics, computational mechanics, composites, and multifunctional materials, especially as they relate to structural health management. The candidate must have a PhD in a related field of engineering or science and demonstrated excellence in research. The successful candidate will be expected to develop innovative and independently funded research program and to have a strong commitment to teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels. The position is intended to be at the Assistant Professor level but exceptionally well-qualified applicants may be considered at higher levels.
