As a Design Team, we decided on designing a pair of “Scissors” to be extruded from the Plastic Injection Molding machine that was available for our use.

Throughout the design stage of our molds, we used the CAD platform ProEngineer Software and we faced numerous issues that oriented us in our decision-making.

Our scissors part consists of two pieces to be molded as shown on the drawings.

Several factors played a role in reaching our proposed optimum design in terms of size, design, placement, and assembly. We had numerous restrictions concerning the project rules in terms of tooling, spacing and dimensioning such that the part would fit inside the blocks while having considerable esthetics.
