The core of the Laboratory is housed in a newly renovated space of about 1000 ft², and in two accompanying dual-purpose laboratories (teaching/research), namely, the Manufacturing Processes Laboratory (2000 ft²) and the Metrology Laboratory (500 ft²). The Laboratory has also direct access to two additional facilities, i.e., the Manufacturing Workstations and Prototyping Laboratories. The former supports the computing needs while the later prototype development, and manufacture of experimental equipment.

AML is equipped with state-of-the-art processing machinery, instrumentation and test equipment and computing facilities. Its holdings include:

• Conventional CNC machine tools: a Cincinnati Milacron and a Mori Seiki 

• Coordinate measuring machines 

• Metrology equipment for surface and roundness measurements

• Laser alignment system

• A variety of dynamometers, vibration test equipment, etc.

Among AML's unique pieces of equipment are:

• A High speed (110,000 rpm) fully instrumented micro-drilling and -milling system 

• Micro-drill point grinder

• Several micro/meso-scale machine tools (mMTs)
